BIO

Born to Filipino parents raised in London, Elyss Daya is a singer-songwriter-producer. Her nostalgic music pens tales about growing up, love and self-discovery.

At 12 years old, she picked up the guitar and soon penned her first songs. "Writing music for me was finding out how to encapsulate all these moments that I can look back on." The indie-pop artist garnered attention from BBC Music Introducing London. She has also landed a Spotify editorial playlist and featured on other independent media.

  • Hey, I'm Elyss. My favourite things in the world are cats, baking and I have a serious obsession with watching true crimes. I think it's a Scorpio thing being born on Halloween eve. My lucky number and will always be my lucky number is 8. I've seen it bring unreal things in my life too many times.

I owe it to my dad BIG TIME for teaching me how to play the guitar when I was 12 - wrote my first song soon after. The central part of my songwriting is based on my life. I like remembering every little thing, every conversation, the movement, the feeling – I want to remember it all. Writing music for me is trying to encapsulate all these moments that I can look back on. It is almost like music is some sort of teleportation device.

I like change. I know that sometimes it can be good and bad. If it does turn bad, it’s another challenge I have to face. I also know that I'll never be the same but the very essence of us will always remain. If you're reading this, I hope you know that I am grateful. Whether you're new here or you've stuck around for a while, the moment you believed in me enough to want to know about me by reading this was the moment that made me happy. So, I hope I get to see you someday and I hope where ever you are the sun is always shining.

    Love Endlessly,

    Elyss
